First Blog Post Ever

This right here is an example of a blog post. Ain't it cool? It's a lot like an open diary to the whole internet.

For the purposes of this assignment, as I have explained to you in class, you will be asked to blog a minimum of twice per week, on two separate days each week.

Bloggers write about nearly anything--politics, music, celebrity gossip, or personal philosophy--anything that they feel their readers might be interested in reading about.

For the purposes of this assignment, however, I want you to concentrate on making your blog post originate from a thought that came to you during my class. This means that your post should begin with a reference to something we are studying: a theme, a literary term, a selection we've read, or an assignment. In fact, your very first blog should probably be a reflection of this assignment itself: How do you feel about your new blog and the necessity to update it twice a week?

However, after you begin a post about something that has come up in class, feel free to connect this concept to something outside of class or school. You may connect the concept to current events, sports, or even your life at home.

Have fun with it! And remember: the entire internet is watching, not just me and your friends! Write for an audience, revise your posts before hitting the "publish" button, and be sure to write twice per week.

  1. This right here is a comment to a blog post. Ain't it cool? It's like writing in someone's diary so that they and the rest of the internet can see it.

Again, as explained in class, for the purposes of this assignment, you are required to comment on at least two classmates' blogs per week. This means you must write at least two comments, and these comments must be made on two separate blogs.

One week after today, I will collect a list of everyone's Blog addresses and their Blogging names (Mine is RyGuyBell). This way, you can choose whose blog you would like to visit and comment upon.

As the creator of this blog, I have the power to show or hide comments to the rest of the internet. You also will have the power. That means that you can control whether or not you want to keep the others' comments on your blog to yourself or share them with others. It's up to you! You may wish to try both options.

When commenting on someone's blog, it's best to keep the golden rule in mind. Don't leave a harsh or hateful comment on someone's blog if you wouldn't want them to do the same to you. However, it's also best to make sure your comments are insightful and thoughtful. Simple compliments on someone's blog are in fact less complimentary than thoughtful and genuine reactions.

Have fun, be polite, and comment away!
